January 3, 2012—Enriquez,
González, Aguirre y Ochoa, S.C (“EGAO”), announced today that two lawyers
associated with the firm have been elected to the Partnership.
Fernando
Holguin, is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his
practice in mergers and acquisitions, customs and international trade and taxation.
He earned his law degree, summa
cum laude, from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Mr. Holguin is a Fulbright Scholar who earned an L.L.M in
International Taxation from the New
York University.
He also has postgraduate degrees from two leading Mexican
Tax Law
Schools, the Escuela Libre de Derecho
and the Universidad Panamericana, and an LLM in Business Law from the School of Law of the Universidad Autónoma de Cd.
Juárez (a joint academic program with the Faculty of Law of the Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México- UNAM).
Mr. Holguin has extensive practice in
business and corporate law, and has been counseling companies doing joint
ventures, mergers and acquisitions throughout Mexico. He also has advised foreign
companies setting up structures that provide tax benefits when doing business
in México, and to avoid the creation of a permanent establishment in Mexico.
Mr. Holguin has ample experience conducting
complex customs and international trade audits to Mexican companies related
with valuation, HTS classification, and rules of origin, and regularly assists
companies in designing and implementing their customs and foreign trade
compliance procedures. He provides legal advice to maquiladora companies on how
to maximize the tax incentives of the Mexican Government and how to efficiently
pay Mexican Income Tax, IETU tax, import duties and Value Added Tax.
Ricardo Aguirre, is a member of the Notarial Group and concentrates
his practice in loan
structuring, guarantee trusts, and real estate transactions. He earned his law degree,
summa cum laude,
from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, and he also
has earned a Master’s degree in Business Law from the Universidad Autonoma de
Ciudad Juarez (UACJ), in addition to having obtained an Academic Diploma issued
by the UACJ in Notarial and Public Property Registration Law (a Graduate specialization
course during one semester).
Mr. Aguirre was granted the title of Candidate to be a Notary Public (Aspirante a
Notario Público), after passing a rigorous examination by an examining
board comprised of a representative of the Government of the State of Chihuahua
and by four members of the Colegio de Notarios del Distrito Bravos, A.C. (the
Notarial College of Bravos District, the equivalent of a local Notarial Bar),
which focused on notarial, commercial, civil, real estate, tax and family law. This
will enable him to temporarily act on behalf of any Notary Public in the State of Chihuahua, and to
contend for any new or vacant Public Notarial office. There are 32 Notaries Public for the City of Juarez, three of which are
partners of EGAO.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Aguirre worked
for two years in the corporate department of an international law firm where he
practiced foreign investment, real estate law, corporate governance and
commercial transactions.
